Our Beginnings

The Fase family has spent nearly 70 years in the Real Estate business and there’s no doubt they have a lot to show for it. The story began in 1953 when Don Fase opened Fase Realty with only two locations in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Fast forward twenty years and Don Fase had a new partner by his side, his son, Steve Fase. The family continues to grow and so does Fase Realty, in 1989 the company had over 100 REALTORS®, five divisions and are considered the dominant builder and brokerage in the area.

The success didn't stop there, in that same year Steve Fase transitioned from Fase Realty to Prudential Real Estate. Little did Don Fase know, in the next 10 years, his son would acquire some of the largest brokerages in the state of Michigan. By 2012, Prudential Real Estate covered almost the entire state of Michigan and Northern Indiana. The company had dozens of offices and hundreds of licensed agents.

In 2014, business magnate, Warren Buffett had taken notice of Prudential Real Estate’s success. At one billion dollars in annual sales volume, Prudential Preferred REALTORS® joined forces with the second largest residential real estate brokerage company in the United States. Thus, becoming Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Michigan Real Estate and Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Northern Indiana Real Estate. Today, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Michigan Real Estate, Northern Indiana Real Estate and Tomie Raines REALTORS® have over 50 offices, over 1,000 licensed agents and $2.4 billion in sales annually.
